Thing Thursday 4/24/2014
This week's thing is a cat scratching post. I still have my cat, but since she's de-clawed on the front, she never uses this. Now that I think about it, she never really used it when she had claws either, she preferred wood surfaces for her scratching needs... Since it's not in use, it's just taking up space. Not any more though, this is gone!

I wish we could get rid of our "scratching post" aka the Crashy House. Crash sits on this 2 level monstrosity all day and looks out the window. I agree that pets do take up space and make little messes but they're usually worth it.
Yes, and sometimes my pets make BIG messes, lol. But I love them anyhow :) I promise I'm not getting rid of everything my pets "own", but I did get rid of this post since she never uses it and didn't like it anyhow. She preferred expensive wood furniture over this cheap post.
My cats recently started using the scratching post I had out for them. It's only been sitting there for a year! My kitten likes to attack it, but it's better than nothing. They usually use the back of chairs or the carpet. Sigh!
Darn stubborn cats :) Gotta love 'em!
Hi Shoe!
I'm not sure if the humaine society accepts donations of used toys or scratch posts, but maybe an idea?
I should start something like this. I have random items kicking around that I can't even remember the last time I've used.
Cheers,
Jen
Jen, that is a GREAT idea! I live in a very small town and we don't have a humane society, but I will ask the one private rescue in the area and ask if it would be at all helpful to them. Thanks!
Ours went to the local RSPCA about six months ago. Cats (we have five) don't seem to have noticed and as they spend most of their time outside anyway I don't think they needed it in the first place. A perfect example of something we thought we liked but never needed.
That happens to me quite a bit, especially with "gadgets". They are supposed to make life easier, but then they don't live up to expectations.
