News item 1: Since I revised my debt payoff goal for 2014 from $10k down to $7.5k, I am much closer to being on track. I am still slightly behind, but I think I can make up for it in the remaining 9 months of 2014. For the remaining 9 months, I have to pay off $663.49 each month to hit my goal of paying off $7.5k of debt (principle) in 2014!
News item 2: I got a flat tire the other day. While I was getting it fixed, the tire technician pointed out to my dad and I (he was with me when we discovered the flat) that my tires are starting to dry rot, aka the sides of the tires are cracking. When I asked my dad how much time I have before I have to get new tires, he told me only a "little while". When I pressed further, "a month or a year?" the consensus seemed to be that they could last a few more months at least, but they will definitely have to be replaced in 2014. I guess this is what emergency funds and my "car repair" fund is for.
I don't think there are any surprises with my budget so far this month. Holler if you have questions. :)

Hi Shoe!,
I'm glad to see that you have a car repair category for your budget. I am currently saving for a car and will be turning my car fund account into the gas/maintenance account once purchased. I enjoy reading your nearly daily postings and keep up the good work!
Jen
Thanks Jen! I do try to post M-F, so there's lots of content for readers. When I started I thought it might be hard to come up with that many ideas, but inevitably things happen that I want to write about and I sometimes find and "borrow" ideas from other bloggers. :) Hope you continue reading and good luck with your car seach!
Good to revisit your savings goals and come up with something realistic but aggressive enough that you don't let this debt thing last for too long. What will your target end date be for all your debt now?
I honestly haven't calculated my debt-free date & I'm not sure I want to. It may be too depressing and I think it may seem so far away that I begin thinking it's unattainable...
