As you can see, I am over in a couple of categories. The phone bill was more this month as I just switched carriers and it is for a month and a half. Next month, this bill should be close to the budgeted amount. The gas bill for my heater was more than expected, but the city bill was less than projected, so those off-set each other. So far, so good with staying on track with my budget (for the most part). Hopefully it will still be a successful month!

I found your blog from A Slob Comes Clean. I think you are dong a wonderful thing for yourself. I check our spending every week, too. If we are under--I use that money to pay down debt (you would use it on your emergency fund.) Good luck!
Thanks for the encouragement! This thought process is new to me, so I'm sure I still have some learning to do. This blog is really helping hold me accountable. When I want to go out to eat even though I have perfectly good food at home I think "what would a reader say about that?".
