Shopping Freeze

Shopping FreezeThere are really 2 choices when it comes to getting out of debt: earn more or spend less. I am really attempting to combine both of those, but spending less serves a dual purpose. Not only will it help me accomplish my debt goals but it will also help with the clutter in my home. I am attempting the 1 in 1 out rule, but on a larger scale I just want to buy less stuff.

This year I am putting myself in a shopping freeze of sorts. I know I have to buy necessary things like food, household goods, etc. But I am not going to be making the sorts of frivolous purchases I have made in the past. As far as clothing, toiletries, etc goes, I plan to only buy what is needed to replace things worn out or things that get too big. (I am also attempting to live a healthier lifestyle with exercise and better eating habits.)

Full disclosure: the weekend before last, I went to my favorite store with my mom and all I walked out with was a cami to replace a worn out one at home AND I did the 1 in 1 out rule as soon as I got home! The cami was $20, but with my coupons I got it for $6.48. Mission accomplished and I used all my will power to do it. Hopefully, this will get easier!

Thanks for the encouragement! I try to NEVER pay full price unless absolutely necessary... :)
